Andrew Yarrow

Yarrow being hoodedDr. Andrew L. Yarrow is currently a visiting history professor at American University, teaching courses on 20th-century America. Before receiving his Ph.D. from George Mason University under the direction of Prof. Roy Rosenzweig, Andrew had obtained an MPA from Harvard University. Besides his teaching duties, Andrew is also a consultant to the The Brookings Institution.

A former reporter for The New York Times for 11 years, Andrew has published many op-eds, along with several popular and scholarly articles.

Dr. Yarrow has had a distinguished and wide-ranging career: he previously taught journalism at American University; he was a Clinton Administration political appointee; he consulted for the World Bank, UNICEF, the U.S. Department of Education, the Carnegie Corporation, and Public Agenda; he worked for the U.S. Department of Labor and the Export-Import Bank; and he also received fellowships from the European Union, the French Government, the Kennedy and Truman Presidential Libraries, Princeton University, George Mason University, and the Institute for International Education.

His first book, Latecomers: Children of Parents Over 35, was published by Free Press in 1991. He has two books forthcoming from Yale University Press: Visions of Abundance: The Rise of Economic Thinking and Changing Views of American Identity, 1945-1965, and Forgive Us Our Debts: Deficits Do Matter.
